Perlin drift

Ken Perlin's gradient noise — the algorithm behind procedural clouds and terrain — read as a melody. Perlin noise is smooth: the next moment resembles this one, the far future doesn't. Mapped to pitch that gives an ambient line that wanders without jumping; two more noise channels breathe the dynamics and thin the line into rests. There is no loop point — the drift is endless, and a seed means any drift you like can be found again. Turn wander down for glacial, up for restless; roughness layers faster noise octaves on top.
