Generate

Creative MIDI generators — listenable generative-composition toys. Each one plays live in the browser and exports a Standard MIDI File, and every process is locked to a key and scale so even the chaotic ones stay musical.

Generators

Fifteen takes on machine-made music — counterpoint machinery, cellular automata, splash physics, file bytes, Euclidean rhythms, a melody-learning chain, botanical grammars, orbital polyrhythms, a one-knob shift-register looper, constraint-solved melodies, gradient-noise drift, chanted poetry, spelled words, lead-sheet arpeggios, and outlined trees. Every generator can lock to any scale — pentatonic through chromatic and 12-tone rows — and export with a chosen General MIDI sound.

Counterpoint Apparatus

One melody, four playheads — each at its own speed, direction, and transposition. Canon, retrograde, and augmentation, running by themselves.

Cellular Automata

Bouncing cells that play the walls, and Conway's Game of Life read as a step sequencer — row is pitch, column is time.

Pond Ripple

Drop stones in a pond; expanding rings play pitched pegs — near pegs loud, far pegs soft. Let it rain, record, export.

File Sonifier

Hear any file's bytes as a scale-locked melody — text clusters, zeros drone, compression sounds like static.

Euclidean Rhythms

E(k,n) — the world's rhythms from one division algorithm. Four drum lanes on rings, polymeter included, exported on the GM drum channel.

Markov Continuator

Teach it a melody and it keeps going where you tend to go — with a temperature knob from faithful to adventurous.

L-system Grower

Grow a fractal plant and hear it: branches become voices, twigs whisper, and the phrase contains itself at every scale.

Orbit Sequencer

Planets crossing a trigger ray — strict 1:2:3:4 polyrhythms in harmonic mode, Reich-style phasing in drift mode.

Turing Machine Looper

A shift register with one knob: locked loop ↔ evolving melody ↔ chaos ↔ double loop. The hardware module's trick, in a page.

WFC Melody

Wave-function collapse writes a tune: every step a superposition, your rules knock candidates out, the solver collapses the rest.

Perlin Drift

Gradient noise as an endless ambient line — smooth wandering pitch, breathing dynamics, seeded so a good drift can be found again.

Prosody Chant

Paste a poem and hear its meter: stressed syllables long, loud, and high; punctuation breathes; phrase ends fall.

Arpeggio Machine

Type a lead-sheet progression and get a texture — arpeggio patterns through real jazz voicings from the theory engine.

Word Melodies

Spell a melody: every letter's alphabet position becomes a scale degree, so any word is a tune — wrap or fold, vowels sing or rest.

Tree MIDI

Outline a tree and hear its shape — depth becomes register, siblings become chords, and depth- or breadth-first sets the phrase.
