A melody is more than the chord's own notes. The tones between them — the decorations — are what make a line move, and each has a name decided by how it's approached and left: stepped through (passing), stepped away and back (neighbor), held over and resolved down (suspension), leapt into and stepped out (appoggiatura), or sung early (anticipation). Chord tones are inked; non-chord tones are marked in colour with their type. Toggle the analysis off to test yourself, then play each phrase.
