Intervals

The distance between two notes, named by its size (a third, a fifth…) and its quality (major, minor, perfect, augmented, diminished). Size counts letter names; quality counts semitones — which is why C→E♭ and C→D♯ sound identical yet one is a minor third and the other an augmented second. Build one and see it spelled on the staff, then drill your ear.
