Comping rhythms

A voicing says what notes a comping chord uses; this page is about when it lands. The same chord stabbed on every beat, or held back to one syncopated hit, tells a soloist completely different things about the time. Pick a chord and a rhythmic figure and hear (and see) how differently a rhythm section can state the exact same harmony. For the voicing itself, see Jazz Voicings.
