Start with a harmonically rich waveform and take away what you
don't want. A sawtooth has every harmonic; a filter carves them off. This is the classic
analog voice: oscillator → filter → amplifier, each stage shaped by an
envelope. Watch the spectrum as you sweep the cutoff — you're literally subtracting.
