The .scl file is the lingua franca of microtonality — a tiny text format holding any
scale as ratios and cents, with a public archive of nearly five thousand of them. Drop one here (or
paste it) to hear it and re-export it for whatever your synth reads:

The .tun and .syx map the scale across all 128 MIDI keys. By default the tonic
is on middle C (key 60), one key per degree, wrapping each period — but a loaded keyboard mapping
(below) overrides that. .tun loads into many soft synths (Surge XT, u-he, Pianoteq…); the
.syx retunes MTS-capable hardware and soft synths via any sysex-sending tool. The

A Scala .kbm file decides which key gets which degree — skipping keys (map only
the white notes), moving the 1/1, or pinning a reference pitch. Load one to steer the .tun
and .syx exports above; export one to hand your synth the matching layout.
