The Arabic maqamat and the Hindustani thāts are modes that don't fit the piano: maqamat use neutral (quarter-tone) seconds and thirds from the 24-tone grid, and thāts pick pure-ratio shrutis a comma away from equal temperament. Pick a mode, see which grid degrees it selects, and play it exactly. One honest caveat: these grids are the theory — living performance bends around them, by region, by raga, by singer.
The MPE file pitch-bends each note to its exact grid pitch for an MPE-aware instrument; the
